Mario Sukata, a 5th Degree BJJ Black Belt and Judo Black Belt, stands as the driving force and leader of Team Sukata. With over 30 years of experience, he’s a two-time International Master Champion, European Champion, and UFC veteran. Since starting BJJ in 1991, Mario has dedicated his career to teaching, emphasizing physical skills, personal growth, confidence, and resilience. Team Sukata is a supportive community for students of all levels to grow as athletes and individuals under Mario’s expert guidance.
Since arriving in Liverpool three years ago, Mario has brought his expertise to both beginners and seasoned athletes at Wellington Yard’s flexible studio space. By running classes for kids, women, and mixed groups in both Gi and No-Gi formats, as well as MMA and wrestling sessions, Mario has created a sports hub brimming with energy. Early risers can even train at 6 AM before work, highlighting his commitment to making classes accessible for everyone.

We are like 5 minutes from the motorway, 10 minutes away from the city centre, the location is really good.” Our prime location offers the perfect blend of accessibility and convenience for his students, many of whom are local or live in nearby student housing.
